This chapter identifies basic elements which combine to result in suicide, presents a psychological approach to understanding suicidal phenomena, presents 3 suicidal vignettes, & discusses 10 psychological commonalities together with illustrative quotations from the vignettes. In addition, 12 other fields of knowledge which have a legitimate interest in suicidology are identified, along with key references & the principal assertion of each for the understanding of suicide.
