This presentation to the 1993 American Association of Suicidology Conference reports on research undertaken among the minority Indian population in the eastern part of South Africa where managing adolescent suicidal behavior uses a family oriented approach involving individual & family sessions. Findings suggest that intervention had been effective in reducing feelings of hopelessness & there was no spontaneous remission. Suicidal adolescents must be encouraged to enter into treatment.
