Psychiatric Consultation in the Eastern Canadian Arctic: I. Development and Evolution of the Baffin Psychiatric Consultation Service

The Baffin Consultation Service of the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry has provided psychiatric consultation services to the Eastern Canadian Artic since 1971. This article describes background, history, development, & evolution of the service & focuses on aspects of the consultation visits, project educational activities, & development of a mental health network. This service is considered a useful model for the proivision of psychiatric services to remote areas with limited resources. (7 Refs.)
