The study reported in this article examined clinical & sympotomatic features in a heterogenous group of 44 depressed patients. Those who had attempted suicide: had their 1st episode of affective disorder at a significantly earlier age; had more episodes of affective disorder; & more of them had bipolar disorder. A family history of suicide was found to be significantly associated with a violent suicide attempt. (15 Refs.)
