This presentation is a survey of selected cases where the method of suicide or the attempt was significant in terms of past experiences or dynamic meanings. The method for suicide can serve 2 functions: it is a means to an end, & the means might have a special meaning of its own. Results from an unpublished 1968 study which included one part devoted to concrete circumstances surrounding the event are reported. The author concludes that better methods of studying suicide methods are required.
