This report describes the Firestone Voice Scale for Suicide (FVSS) & presents preliminary results of a study involving 507 subjects in a test of FVSS hypotheses & comparison to other measures. Findings appear to validate the thesis that the level of the destructive voices (self-critical thoughts in the second person) correlates significantly with suicidal potential. They provide insight into specific destructive voices, facilitate diagnosis, & provide grist for positive therapeutic intervention.
