Research on family factors that may contribute to suicidal ideation/behavior in Quebec youth is reported in this presentation. 2,546 students at 23 high schools participated. The regional 1989-89 teenage suicidal rate was 19.0/100,000. 19.5% of the sample was found to be suicidal. Statistically significant findings indicate that as the parental attitude towards the child deteriorates, the proportion of suicidal adolescents increases. Data on parental harmony, arguments & violence are provided.
