This chapter, using the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) as an example, will review the features of crisis & stress reactions in individuals & special issues that are helpful in analyzing crisis situations. NOVA’s guidelines in providing crisis intervention to such individuals are explained. The ways in which these guidelines are applied & adapted in a communitywide disaster are also described.
