This brief article discusses the formation of the Hungarian Association for Suicide Prevention. Given Hungary’s exceptionally high suicide & attempted suicide rate, Hungarian mental health professionals identified the need for promoting activity, training & cooperation in the field of crisis intervention & suicide prevention. The article identifies a high divorce rate, with a lot of chronic or serious diseases & disabilities & increasing social problems such as unemployment as causes of suicide.
