This editorial notes that the issue is not as polar as either helping the patient to die or walking away (reference to article by F.J. Girsh AN 920920). Concerns about complex issues are discussed. It is observed that the “right to die” seems to translate in practice, to the right to a controlled, comfortable, & convenient death. Differences between the ethical probity of euthanasia & its legality are examined. The editorial suggests that informed consent is perhaps at the core of the matter.
