In this editorial, the authors state that the medical community must take a strong, visible leadership role in the effort to end the epidemic of violence. Homicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the USA while suicide is the 8th leading cause of death. It is argued that stemming violence will take creative solutions which address the social, economic, & behavioural causes of violence. Additionally, a sense of community & inclusion, not exclusion, must be fostered in each individual.
