In this letter to the editor, Tracy states that the medical profession in Australia, with the notable exception of a Dr. Pollard, appears to be indifferent to the issue of euthanasia. He contrasts this attitude with that of doctors in Holland where legal permissiveness has allowed mercy killings. Tracy argues that Australians need to pay attention to evidence which seems to indicate that the stringent safeguards against the abuse of euthanasia are often disregarded by Dutch physicians.
