Abstract
Attempted Suicides: how Should They be Managed and Suicide Prevented?
Lonnqvist J~~Suokas J
In this editorial, the authors review research data concerning suicide attempts, describing in particular a study they did of 1,207 consecutive emergency room treated suicide attempts in Finland. Half of these subjects were referred for psychiatric consultation; their prognosis was fairly good. When the somatic severity of a person’s suicide attempt is moderate to severe, she/he should be referred for psychiatric consultation. (8 refs.)
