The author describes the case of a 62-year-old woman with a 5-year history of recurrent depressive episodes. She experienced rapid deterioration after discontinuing the use of fluoxetine in response to learning of its potential dangers, i.e. suicidal ideation & aggressive behaviour. The subject’s depressive symptoms resolved within 3 weeks of resuming treatment with fluoxetine. (3 refs.)
