Abstract
Self-Directed Violence: Differentiating Between Suicidal, Malingering and Self-Mutilating Behaviours
Weekes J R~~Morison S J
It is suggested that under close scrutiny, suicidal behaviour, malingering (imitating or feigning suicidal intent) & self-mutilation represent distinct clinical syndromes, each needing individualized treatment plans & intervention strategies. Three case studies, involving potentially suicidal inmates, are provided to illustrate the similarities & differences among the 3 different types of behaviour. (6 refs.)
