Leenaars compared suicide notes written by North American men & women for 50 themes & found no differences. To explore sex differences further, the present authors examined the suicide notes of 20 men & 20 women in Berlin. Men more often mentioned specific precipitating events than women did. Overall, the themes expressed in the suicide notes did not appear to differ greatly, thereby confirming Leenaar’s observations in North America. (2 refs.)
