The relationship of 12 variables related to children at risk for out-of-home placement & successful placement outcome for families who had received short-term, home-based, family-centered services was examined. Data were obtained from 139 case files. Age, gender, physical aggression, delinquency, problem school behaviour, physical & sexual abuse, neglect & suicidal behaviour were unrelated to placement outcome. Previous placement was correlated with re-entry into the substitute care system.
