Aggressive behaviour may appear in the form of heteroaggression (aggression directed toward other people or objects) or autoaggression (aggression toward self as in automutilation & suicide). This article describes the specific problems of a clinical program designed to develop compounds to treat these types of aggressive behaviours. Major problems include patient selection, study design, reference drugs, diagnostic & evaluative scales, logistic & methodological problems & authorities’ views.
