This article reviews a collection of lectures that were delivered at Havard Suicide Symposiums beginning in 1981. The 26 chapters outline public health, psychological, biological & sociocultural perspectives on suicide, assessment through diagnostic categories & age group, treatments, & philosophic issues. The author of the review commends the authors on a comprehensive job, with the exception of missing a few issues in assessment, such as substance abuse & occupation. (VM)
