Setting Standards: Certification Efforts and Considerations in the Field of Death and Dying

This article examines efforts at certification within the death & dying field, with particular emphasis on the certification program established by the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). Some of the benefits & potential controversies regarding ADEC’s certification program are highlighted. General issues for consideration with respect to certification activities are also discussed.
