The reported suicides for 1976-1978 of Philadelphia residents were examined geographically by mental health catchment areas to determine if a retrospective study could indicate target groups for planning changes in mental health service delivery & community education programs. Findings did indicate several significant features in the number of suicides in specific catchment areas. It is recommended that these findings continue to be reviewed & results shared with community mental health centres.
