The author states that informed, caring & sensitive personnel may provide the school environment essential to a positive outcome from the traumatic experiences of dying & death. To this end, case examples illustrating stages of loss & behaviour as related to the child’s age are provided as is a discussion of factors which influence bereavement outcomes. The article concludes with 13 guidelines to help school personnel aid bereaved children. (12 refs.)
