Neurological and Neuropsychiatric Spectrum of Wilson’s Disease: a Prospective Study of 45 Cases

Wilson’s disease is a rare hereditary disease characterized by copper deposits in the brain, liver, kidney & cornea. In this study 45 patients with Wilson’s disease were prospectively studied. Psychiatric symptoms & behavioural disorders were common, varying from mild personality & psychological disturbances to severe psychiatric illness resembling psychotic disorders & major depressive syndromes. A history of attempted suicide was found in 7 patients. (55 refs.)
