The authors reports on 8 individuals who fulfilled DSM-III-R criteria for being fully recovered schizophrenics. About half of the cases must be regarded as very likely to have been chronically institutionalized or to have suicided without intervention. 7 of the 8 subjects came from the same hospital. Results confirm that fully recovered psychotherapeutically treated schizophrenics exist at an institution offering competent treatment. (20 refs.)
