Abstract
Serotonergic Interhemispheric Asymmetry: Gender Difference in the Orbital Cortex
Arato M~~Frecska E~~et al
The assymetry of tritiated imipramine binding sites, associated with serotonergic mechanisms, were investigated in the orbital frontal cortex in 12 subjects who died of natural causes & who did not have a history of mental disorders. Preliminary findings of gender differences of serotonergic mechanisms in some areas of the brain are in accordance with the observed gender differences in a variety of serotonin-regulated behaviours & mental disorders, including suicidal behaviours.
