Descriptive & research literature concerning group work in bereavement, focussing on groups for loss of parent, child, sibling, spouse, or classmate due to illness, suicide or violent death is reviewed. A hospice group was well-perceived for increasing participant’s emotional, mental & physical stability. Issues concerning the timing of help provision, the influence of mode of death on bereavement outcome & cultural variations in bereavement are considered. (36 refs.)
