The author discusses how, within 6-9 months, self-help groups & creative strategic interventions can be utilized to problem solve & reintegrate youth with suicidal ideation & other psychiatric behaviours into families & communities. A group home treatment program is described that utilizes treatment goals, parental engagement, & group process. A treatment plan is drawn up & negotiated during the 5-week assessment period.
