This chapter provides a framework in which to begin the evaluation process as it relates to the treatment of American Indian, black & Hispanic American youth. The focus is on sensitizing readers to sociocultural factors that influence minority youth’s psychological development & ethnic socialization. Specific ethnic differences are discussed in terms of their reflection in the expression of symptoms, counselor & youth communication, & the effectiveness of various mental health treatments.
