Data were collected on 117 battered women during a period of 10 yrs before to 5 yrs after the battering in question. Results show that the battered woman seeks hospital care much more than the average woman of the same age, not only for traumatic injuries but also medical, gynecological, psychiatric & unspecified disorders & suicide attempts. It was also found that during the 5 years after the battering, these women did not reduce their use of hospital care.
