It has been argued that suicide may be a “clinical commonplace” among people with HIV. The present author outlines the reasons for this belief but then argues, by reviewing current research, that findings do not unequivocally point to a strong association between suicidal behaviour & HIV/AIDS. The editoral ends with a call to researchers to work together to develop a feasible & well directed research program. (7 refs.) (MM)
