Survey data from a sample of 95 high school students indicated considerable prior experience with suicidal peers (34%), with a majority of the respondents indicating that they would know where to go for help in dealing with a suicidal friend. Problems with parents, feelings of depression, & an inability to cope with problems were believed to be the major causes of youth suicide today. (3 refs.)
