In this study, youths who attempted suicide through overdose were compared to other adolescent psychiatric patients. In the overdose group, schools had contacted the parents more often about school performance, & the parents were more likely to have been concerned over their child’s mental state. The overdose group was also more likely to have known someone who had attempted suicide, their parents were more likely to drink regularly, & they were more likely to come from one-parent families.
