This article provides suicide statistics for Turkey, including gender, age, method, & rural/urban rates. Turkey has a low suicide rate, but accurate reporting is hampered by the Islam religion’s condemnation of suicide. The author suggests that low rates may also be due to the traditional, supportive, extended family of Turkey, which would also explain the higher rates in big cities, where this family structure has eroded.
