The author argues that before public support for euthanasia & assisted suicide gains too much momentum, the ethical ramifications & propriety of such practices must be examined more closely. Uzych discusses the practice of euthanasia in Holland & why the Dutch experience may not be applicable to the United States. The consequences of physician participation in patient suicide in a cost-conscious society are also discussed. (6 refs.)
