Examines current levels of training by comparing the member-departments of the National Council of Schools of Professional Psychology (NCSPP) & the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (CUDCP) programs. 35% of the CUDCP departments who responded & 56% of the NCSPP respondents offer formal training in the study of suicide. Even when all training efforts are combined, only 40% of all graduate programs in clinical psychology offer formal training in the study of suicide. (41 refs)
