Each year in the U.S. nearly 3000 children & adolescents die as a result of homicides, suicides & unintentional injuries from firearms. Increasingly pediatricians are becoming involved, as parent educators, experts & political advocates, in efforts to reduce the prevalence of firearm injuries & deaths. This commentary is intended to aid pediatricians by presenting 17 pros & cons of possible approaches to reducing the accessibility of firearms in the environments of children & adolescents.
