Risk Factors for Attempted Suicide in Gay and Bisexual Youth

This work was undertaken to examine risk factors for suicide attempts among bisexual & homosexual male youth. 137 Ss, 14-21 yrs old, participated in this study. 41 Ss reported a suicide attempt, & almost half of them described multiple attempts. Attempters were more likely to report sexual abuse, drug abuse or arrests for misconduct. Findings parallel previous studies’ results & also introduce new risk factors related to gender nonconformity & sexual milestones. (37 refs.)
