This article details the historical & contemporary patterns of suicide among the Northern Cheyennes as described in the ethnological, historical & autobiographical literature, as well as through the authors’ observations on the reservation. Data from 1830 to 1968 is provided, & broken down by gender & method. Case histories & common motivations for suicide are outlined, & information on attempted suicide is presented. Causes of death from 1963-67 are also outlined. (VM)
