Discusses family network interventions, focusing on the development of core networks with small groups of family members, friends & professionals. The purpose of such interventions is to guide network members out of repetitive & futile efforts, help them focus their energies productively, & return the group’s natural processes to its own control with new insights & coping skills. The case of a 20 year old male patient who became suicidal after the birth of his first child is presented. (20 refs)
