Correlates of Drinking and Drug use by Higher Education Faculty and Staff: Implications for Prevention
Watts W D~~Cox L~~et al
This study examined drug & alcohol abuse among higher education faculty & staff. The authors predicted the stress & autonomy in higher education would lead to high substance abuse. Stress was found to be weakly correlated with drug use during the last month, but depression was consistently correlated with drug use & moderately correlated with suicidal thoughts & tendencies. A brief literature review of studies on educators, work, stress, & drug use is also presented. (VM)
