This article discusses how suicidal alcoholics are more likely to call a crisis telephone line then go to a crisis centre where they will have to see a counsellor face to face. The authors give suggestions on how to deal with drunk callers (particularly patience & tolerance) & detail the progress of 12 alcoholic callers to their emergency telephone service. (VM)
