Reviews the research by Brent et al which suggests a relationship between alcohol, firearms & suicide among youth (reported in JAMA, v.257, p.3369-3372). The present author expects that an epidemic increase in youth suicide will be seen because a national survey of alcohol use among high school students revealed an increase in binge drinking & because firearms are more readily available. Recommends that legislators become more responsible about the strict enforcement of the minimum drinking age.
