This study compared the histories of teenagers who committed suicide in 2 clusters in Texas to a control group. Case subjects were not more likely to have known anyone who committed suicide, nor to have greater media exposure to suicide. Case subjects were more likely to have displayed previous suicidal behavior, to have known someone closely who died violently, to have broken up a relationship recently, to have moved more often, & to have lived with more parent figures.
