This article discusses the risk of suicide of psychiatrically hospitalized military members during Medical/Physical Evaluation Board processing. During this transitional period, these patients are often seen as out of the acute stage, & to some degree, cured, by the staff. However, at this stage, many patients must face the reality of the loss of their military identity & their career, & are at risk of suicide. 3 case histories are presented. (VM)
