Recognition of Predisposing Factors Which Affect the High Suicide Rate of Canadian Indians

This article discusses the factors which cause Canadian natives to be a high risk group for suicide, including physical or mental illnesses, disabling conditons which affect normal function, dependent elderly members, lack of education, unemployment, social isolation & poverty. The author stresses early recognition will aid the community health nurse to intervene, as well as outlining barriers & possible improvements for health promotion. (VM)
