This article presents the case of a 16-year-old hospitalized suicidal girl, diagnosed as schizophrenic. The authors analyse her family’s role in her suicidal career. An interview shows she is obsessed with death & dying, sleep & drugs. These factors interplay with her construction of reality, & with her risk-taking, self-injurious way of life. The authors assert that more qualitative research is needed to increase our understanding of at-risk adolescents. (VM)
