Development of a Tool to Assess Suicide Risk Factors in Urban Adolescents

The goal of this study was to develop a pilot instrument to examine the differences between adolescents who have attempted suicide & other teenagers. An 86-item questionnaire was admistered to both groups. Questions were sorted into 3 areas (family environment, social environment & self perception). Statistical analysis revealed significant differences on 55 of 86 questions. The results were used to create a test to assess suicide risk (not included). (VM)
