This article describes a suicide-trajectory model based on the life span perspective. The model includes 4 categories of risk factors: biological, psychological, cognitive & environmental. These 4 factors interact & lead to suicidal ideation, which may lead to warning signs & triggering events. The authors assert that through an understanding of life span development, it is possible to predict crises that make suicide more likely. (VM)
