This article describes the case of a man who attempted suicide while undergoing chemical dependency treatment in a Minneapolis hospital. He showed signs of becoming psychotic, but was not given a suicide assessment, and after a few days in the locked mental health unit, was released to the open chemical dependency unit, and attempted suicide. He won a judgement of $400,000 from the doctor and the hospital. (VM)
