This article discusses a number of speeches at the 1991 American Association of Suicidology Conference which criticized David Shaffer et al’s research. Their speeches raised serious questions about the benefits & safety of school-based suicide education curriculum. 3 speakers criticized Shaffer’s research methodology, although they all agreed that more program evalution in schools is required.
